Rocky Top Sports World is an acclaimed indoor/outdoor sports complex that spans 80 acres, featuring an impressive array of amenities designed to host a variety of sporting events and tournaments. On the edge of Gatlinburg in a magnificently scenic, Smoky Mountain setting, the complex is one of the largest sports facilities in the region. It’s been named one of the best sports campuses in the Southeast.

The complex offers 6 synthetic turf fields and 1 natural turf field, and these can be configured for up to 14 youth soccer fields. Amenities for spectators are comprehensive, with bleacher seating, picnic tables, and a children’s play area in the outdoor area.
Indoors, the venue supplies 86,000 square feet of space, housing 6 hardwood basketball courts and 12 volleyball courts, with additional courts for both sports that can be brought into play. The indoor facilities also include team rooms, event planning spaces, a grill area, and spectator viewing options designed for comfort and accessibility.
Events at Rocky Top Sports World
Rocky Top Sports World hosts a diverse range of events throughout the year, including tournaments, camps, leagues, and hospitality outings. It’s especially popular for youth sports events with its state-of-the-art facilities and its adventurous location at the entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
The location on the edge of America’s most popular national park makes Rocky Top a great destination for families to enjoy a vacation in the Smoky Mountains and cheer on their kids in their sporting activities. And the scale of the place makes it attractive for large events, able to accommodate up to 2,000 people for events.
Rocky Top Sports World hosts a broad range of special events and camps for kids throughout the year, including for football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, lacrosse and wrestling, with affiliations ranging from national championship through regional events, to the support of local sports and activities. The complex is a great venue for homeschool championships, and offers holiday events such as Halloween and Christmas activities.
Especially popular annual events include the Harlem Globetrotters Summer Camp, for young kids age 6 to 14) and a chance to meet the Globetrotters. The complex offers several other camps including basketball, soccer and volleyball.
Rocky Top Sports World also hosts various tournaments, leagues, and special gatherings such as birthday parties and corporate events. The facility features both indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing for a wide range of activities tailored to different interests, and offers a special events team to assist with planning.
The Excellent Location of Rocky Top Sports World
Situated less than 10 minutes from downtown Gatlinburg and close to one of the entrances to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Rocky Top Sports World not only provides excellent sporting facilities but also serves as a gateway to numerous outdoor activities and attractions in the area.
Surrounding the complex are the Gatlinburg-Pitman High School, with its own fields for football and softball, and the Gatlinburg Community Center, which offers a swimming pool and bowling for some more indoor fun, as well as a library. Close by too is Mills Park, for more municipal outdoor activity, and the Gatlinburg Dog Park, if the family friend is getting restless.
The complex is located near the old town of Pitman Center, a tiny hidden gem packed with history. Look for the Emerts Cove Covered Bridge, even closer, as a favorite place for souvenir photos of your trip. And welcome to the Greenbrier area of the national park, one of the less visited (less crowded) parts of the park and also, in our humble opinion, one of the most beautiful, with old growth forest and lots of water.
