Fall Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair 2016

The Fall Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair of 2016 happens October 6-23 at the Gatlinburg Convention Center, with doors open 10-6 daily and 10-5 Sunday for two weeks. It’s fall in the Smoky Mountains, and the harvest is abundant especially when it comes to arts and crafts.

This ever popular show is the place for window shopping, or shopping for real, and the pickings are astonishingly varied and rich. There are more than 150 booths, and all the summer’s new work coming out of the hills to town from the nation’s largest community of independent artists and craftspeople who make this area their home.

Summer Craftsmen’s Fair 2016

The 41st Annual Summer Craftsmen’s Fair begins in Gatlinburg July 14, running through July 17, 2016. It’s summer again, and time again for one of the finest showcases in the nation of handmade arts and crafts. Designated one of the Southeast’s most popular events, the fair attracts top artists and craftspeople from across the country, joining with one of the nation’s largest communities of independent artisans right here in Gatlinburg.

More than 180 craftspeople put their latest creations on display in the ample, multi level space of Gatlinburg Convention Center. And they set up to work – you can find them displaying their skills as they actually make their wares. This is a keynote of the fair, the sheer accessibility of so many gifted artisans, sharing their craft secrets and stories with anyone who stops by to watch and chat.

Gatlinburg’s internationally acclaimed Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts is offering a chance to meet with history and learn new skills this weekend with its annual Spring Art Experience, held Thursday through Sunday, April 14-18, 2016.

The weekend program is a celebration of the school’s rich and long history, and includes 2 days of workshops in arts and crafts, a storytelling of the area’s history, Appalachian music, a wine tasting, and a Sunday brunch with a special program featuring this year’s artists in residence.

Would you like to get expert personal instruction in creating your own work of art in the craft of your choice? This weekend is your time, as the renowned arts and crafts community of Gatlinburg starts a new venture, inviting the public into its studios and workshops to create the treasure of their very own making.

Hands On Gatlinburg is a 3-day weekend event, April 8-10, 2016, Friday through Sunday, with more than 15 different studios offering more than 40 classes of hands-on teaching and mentoring. Some of the classes are one-on-one, as in the case of glass-blowing, for example.

How about that? Now you can come to Gatlinburg and learn to blow a unique, custom glass object or ornament, almost all by yourself!

Gatlinburg’s renowned Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts hosts its 2nd annual Legacy Weekend this Thursday through Sunday, April 9-12, 2015.

Legacy Weekend is a mix of celebration and open house, offering a series of workshops and encouraging interaction between the participants and the whole campus community. Part of the proceeds from workshop fees will benefit Friends of the Smokies. (more…)

Just in time for holidays, family celebrations, and the gift-giving season, the Gatlinburg arts and crafts community brings out its finest products in two great shows held back to back, at the tail end of November and in early December.

As winter follows fall in the Smoky Mountains, one thing we might miss – besides the leaves turning color of course – is the abundance of arts and crafts that always appears in Gatlinburg during the harvest festival time of fall, following a productive summer of labor. (more…)

An arts village breaks out again this weekend in downtown Gatlinburg on the campus of Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, as the 100-year old school stages its FREE arts festival for the tenth year running. The festival runs Friday through Sunday, October 3-5, 2014.

Literally just a step off the sidewalk at Traffic Light #5 in the middle of Gatlinburg, the tranquil campus of this internationally renowned fine-arts school gives way to a host of tents and booths showcasing the works of artists from near and far, selected by jury for the highest quality artisanship.
