Easter weekend 2017 in the Smoky Mountains brings excitement, celebration and worship. Here’s what’s happening and where to find it.

Kids, get some sleep on Friday night because Saturday morning, April 15, 2017, the Easter Egg hunt gets underway at 10:30 am in Pigeon Forge. The hunt is in Patriot Park – always a great place to visit and take a breather from the rest of the bustle on the strip.

2017 Spring Trout Tournament – 19th Annual

troutThe first full weekend in April means it’s time again to go fishing in the annual trout tournament in the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge area. In 2017, this weekend is April 1-2, Saturday and Sunday, marking the 19th Annual Smoky Mountain Trout Tournament.

Once again over 10,000 trout have been stocked in over 20 miles of prime fishing streams for the event. There are cash prizes amounting to more than $10,000, in what is held to be one of the best fishing contests in the southeast. Recent rains mean the streams are deep and flowing.

Smoky Mountain Snowdown Festival 2017 in Townsend, TN

The town of Townsend – “on the quiet side of the Smokies” – offers its annual winter festival, Smoky Mountain Snowdown, January 26-29, 2017.
