About Lindsey Stallings

I started with Cabins of the Smoky Mountains at Gatlinburg Falls in early 2014. I love to interact with our guests and help them to plan their vacations. Each guest has a different story, and they come from all over the world. I was raised in Ohio, but moved to Tennessee as a teenager and finished high school in Pigeon Forge. Cades Cove is one of the most beautiful places, by far my favorite place in this area. I try to take time out to visit it as often as possible, especially in the Fall.

Fourth of July Midnight Parade 2015: Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge Celebrations

2015-07-02_170546Friday is July 3, 2015, which means that the stroke of midnight signals the beginning of July 4th, and the start of the First Fourth of July Parade in the Nation. For the 40th year since the Bicentennial in 1976, the little City of Gatlinburg wakes up the United States with its annual Midnight Parade.

And what a parade it is! More than 100 floats, marching bands, entrants from surrounding states, groups, troupes, special vehicles and huge cartoon helium balloons spend around an hour and a half from midnight traveling the length of Parkway from Traffic Light 1a to Traffic Light 10.

Summer begins for sure when Gatlinburg opens its season of Tunes & Tales, starting Friday evening, June 12, 2015, and lasting through August 1. This is a time when strolling the town becomes not just filled with wonder but also filled with surprises, and the casual stroller can run into music, song and street performance at any turn along downtown Parkway, every evening from 6 pm.

Tunes & Tales started only in recent years, and has become immensely popular, turning the evenings into magic as characters in period costume, bluegrass musicians and storytellers celebrate the legacy of Appalachia and share it with all who care to gather ’round. (more…)

Synchronous Fireflies 2015

The synchronous fireflies at Elkmont have started again this year with their almost unique pattern of flashing on and off in harmony – a thing not seen anywhere else in the world except parts of Southeast Asia.

The Park Service is again coordinating a trolley service in conjunction with the City of Gatlinburg to bring people to the Elkmont campground area for the nightly showing. For safety and environmental protection, visitors to the area are limited. Advance tickets go on sale in April and usually sell out in ten minutes! (more…)

It’s an earthy time of year in the Smoky Mountains right now. The springtime period after Easter marks the magical time in Great Smoky Mountains National Park when millions of wildflowers bloom for a brief time, one step ahead of the trees blooming, which will cover the skies above with foliage and plunge the forest floor back into deep shade.

Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage

For a few weeks, 1,500 species of wildflower cover the ground everywhere, and April 21-25, 2015, marks the time of the 65th Annual Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage. (more…)
