Oktoberfest begins again this year at Ober Gatlinburg this Friday, September 28, and runs all through October until November 4.
During this time the Bavarian Fun Makers Band will perform several daily shows, with extra performances on weekends. In authentic costumes, the band will perform traditional Bavarian folk dances, schuhplattling, oompah music, sing-a-longs, yodels and more.
There will be special Oktoberfest Biers and traditional German wurst, schnitzel, sauerkraut, strudel, pretzels and more. For more details check the Ober Gatlinburg Oktoberfest event page.
While nature signals a change in season with leaves gracefully turning color, the world at large annnounces its holiday season a little more brashly, with the world’s first big party!
Oktoberfest is increasingly celebrated all over the world, from Brazil to Australia to Hong Kong. In Munich the festival has already started, continuing the tradition begun there two centuries ago. This original Oktoberfest, still the largest in the world, will draw more than 6 million attendees this year (last year’s crowd drank almost 8 million liters of beer!).
So, here comes holiday season – have fun!
